As humankind develops we push on into the Bronze Age and then to the Iron Age only to see the arrival of the Romans to surplant the Celtic population. After four centuries of strong rule, the Romans crumble away to be slowly replaced by the Saxons before the influx of the Vikings who took over half the country. Then as the beleagured Britons struggled to contain their Norse invaders, the Normans' devastating arrival changed the complexion of the country forever. Following this final conquest, our journey takes us through Tudor times to the civil war and then into the elegent Regency period. Finally the Industial Revolution and the triumphant era set up the Victorians and the great 20th century and it's terrible wars.
